Panama-Pacific Exposition Souvenir, 1/2" x 5" x 7", 1915. This thin section from an 1850's Panamanian railroad cross-tie was fashioned into a marketable memento of the Gold Rush days. A label on the piece states that "...Most of the foremost pioneers used the Panama Rail Route during the fifties...". The front of the section reads A LIFE FOR EACH TIE PANAMA and is affixed with a brass Isthmian Canal badge. Overall VG condition.
