A complete issue of Harper’s Weekly, August 30, 1862, 16pp., disbound, VG. From the interior, three horizontal engravings fill the page. The engravings are of the Union Occupation of Stevenson Alabama and show “Negroes Building Stockade Under the Act of Congress.” This is a reference to the The Second Confiscation Act passed on July 17, 1862 which stated that all slaves that took refuge in Union areas were "captives of war" and would be set free. On the opposing page, a full page engraving “John Morgan’s Highwaymen Sacking a Peaceful Village in the West,” with a report on a separate page.
