A good war-date Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 8vo., written, on patriotic stationery, by Pvt. James Hiram Jones, Co. I, 24th Mass. Vols., [WIA Darbytown Road, VA 10/13/64], [n. p., but New Bern, NC], Jan. 15, 1863, in part: "…we are going off on another expedition before the weeks out…it is going to be a big thing. We are going to take Charleston. It is going to be a hard fight…came back from the last march…I have seen some hard fights since I wrote…and I expect to see some more before I write you againJ. H.
