A good war-date Confederate army partly-printed pass, 1p. oblong 12mo., Provost Marshall's office, Macon, Ga., July 27, 1864 issued, in part: "Permission is granted to Mrs. Eldridge to visit Americus, Ga…not to communicate in writing or verbally, for publication, any fact ascertained which if known to the enemy might be injurious to the Confederate States of America, (subject to the discretion of the Military Authorities.) Signed and made official by Capt. and Provost Marshal George H. Fulkerson. VG
