A complete issue of The New York Herald, March 3, 1864, 8pp., disbound, VG. From the front page, a handsome map, 9-1/2” x 9-1/2,” with headline “The Cavalry Raid Into Virginia, Map Showing Roads and Rivers Between the Rapidan and Richmond.” The reporting consumes the entire front page with stacked headlines, “Highly Important News, Kilpatricks Brilliant Cavalry Movement Against Richmond, The Union Prisoners to be Released and the Rebel Capital Sacked, General Custer’s Splendid Demonstration ....” Then, “Sketches of the Commanders” provides background of Kilpatrick, Custer, and Dahlgren.
