Still in its’ original photo album page which is identified as “Martha Washington, Coloring by Mary Custis Lee, we are presented with a delicately tinted CDV of a known painting of Martha Dandridge Custis, accomplished in 1757, by John Wollaston. Martha would marry George Washington two years later. The CDV is hand tinted by Mary Custis Lee who identifies the image on the reverse; “Martha Washington taken from an original portrait by Woollaston that hung at Arlington. Mary Custis Lee.” Just a very nice piece.
