Fancy printed invitation to: "the ceremony of laying the corner stone [sic] of the new synagogue to be erected on Seventh Street, above Arch…[for] yourself and family …the sale of the corner stone and other honors attending the ceremony will take place [one day later] at the Cherry Street Synagogue." Single sheet 5 x 8; blank reverse. Datelined at top "SYNAGOGUE CHAMBERS K.K.M.I. / PHILADELPHIA MAY 3, 1859" (famous early congregation Mickve Israel). Printed notation: "Should weather prove unfavorable ceremony will be postponed until the first fine day." Exc. +. Just the lightest minor brown spots along left blank margin. (Singerman No. 1592; only one other copy recorded.) Rare.
