Very neatly penned, quaintly phonetically spelled, two page letter to Isaac Leeser from St. Louis July 20, 1858.Eisner continues: "we are building the Shool [sic] verry fast in fact too fast, meaning the payments come up on us too fast." (He underlines that last statement !) Describes meeting of finance committee during which various members were appointed (names each) and that great responsibility devolves upon them "…the greatest part meaning the monny [sic] matters…" Seeks Leeser's help "…TO HAVE YOUR MASTERLY HAND TO GIVE US A PUFF IN YOUR MONTHLY WHICH MAY HELP AS A GRADDIL [sic]." Mentions many are coming East to try to raise some of that money. He was appointed to seek out Leeser's help "…but I am not qualified enough to write for your monthly an article…leave it entirely to you to do it." "…The building is fast progressing and will be under roof by the end of August…" Eisner apologizes for "…my soertant [sic] remarks, gramaticale [sic] errors…" Light aging. Exc. +.
