Parchment megilla, 2 1/2" x 10" (rolled), ca. 19th century. This item is one of the five megillot, which are scrolls traditionally read aloud on corresponding Jewish holidays. The Book of Esther pertains to Purim and honors the Jewish queen who led her people from captivity in Persia back to the Holy Land. This scroll is carefully inscribed with Hebrew characters and remains supple despite its age. Aging and stains, else VG condition.
