Typed Letter Signed, Howard LeSourd, 1p. qurto, January 17, 1945, on American Palestine Committee lettersheet, in part: "…From all indiciations, President Roosevelt will be leaving for a conference with Mr. Churchill and Mr. Stalin within the next week or ten days. It is probable that among the crucial matters which they will discuss will be the future of the Jewish people of Europe and the fate of Palestine…We must let our President know that the time has passed for pallaitives and half measures so far as the tragic problem of the uprooted Jews of Europe is concerned. The doors of Palestine must be opened wide to Jewish immigration and every Jew who wishes to do so must be entitled to return to his ancestral home and to rebuild his life there. The conscience of humanity has been shocked and outraged by the horrors perpetrated by the Nazis on the defensless Jewish people…Christians in America must let the leaders of the United Nations know that they are in favor of affording to the Jewish people the opportunity to achieve, at long last, nationhood in their ancient homeland…Urge the immediate opening of Palestine to Jewish immigration and its reconstitution as a free democratic Jewish Commonwealth. The time many not recur for a solution of the tragic and age-old problem of the dispersed Jewish people…" VG.
