Pair of missionary letters written while in Kurdistan brining the gospel to the indignious people of the region, includes: Autograph Letter Signed, February 15, 1851, Roomiah, addressed toRev. John Brigham, Secretary of the American Bible Society and reads in part: “...We have been steadily engaged in this great work, which has been interrupted only for the purpose of printing our monthly Periodical, consisting of a single sheet, which usually occupies our pinters about four days in each month. The work of printing the Old Testament in both the ancient and modern language, proves as we had anticipated, to be a heavy work...We hope wit hthe opening Spring to commence active missionary operations among the Nestorians of the Koordish mountains. We & some of our helpers made several very interesting preaching tours among them, last summer and autumn...It is wonderful to observe how remarkably Providence has prepared the way for the introduction of the gospel into these wilde and fearful regions...” Much more...plus; Autograph Letter Signed, Roomiah, April 2, 1853, and reads in part: “...I would like to have spent that stormy night with you on the top of Mount Washington. The scene I can well imagine, having witnessed similar ones on the mountains of Koordistan, with this difference that I was exposed to the beating of the tempest...At present we are more annoyed than usual by the emissaries of the Romish Church. Two French Missionaries are located in our neighborhood & they are now having unusual success in drawing uweary woulds into their net. May the Lord rais up a standard against them...” More. VG.
