Lot of 4 parchment Masonic certificates awarded to William Hewitt: 12 1/4" x 16", March 21, 1861, Trenton, New Jersey...Plus; 12 1/2" x 15 3/4", March 21, 1861, Trenton, New Jersey...Plus; 12 1/4" x 15 1/2", March 26, 1861, Trenton, New Jersey...Plus; 14" x 17 3/4", March 29, 1861, Burlington, New Jersey. Each of these heavy parchment documents carry a fanciful engraving which lends an air of mysterious solemnity to the appointments they proclaim. Signatures and ribboned seals add to the pomp. Hewitt's certificates fold neatly into a small leather pocket binder. VF condition overall.
