Unsigned letter from B.F. Stevens, 4 pages, quarto, February 4, 1872, St. Augustine, Florida to William J. Haynes, South Narridgewock, Maine. The letter, written to a favorite uncle, reads in part: "...I suppose you would like to know something of this place. Your history will inform you it is the oldest place in the U.S. and if it would say that it is the meanest one it would not skirt far from the fact. There is but little thought or enterprise about the town and but little business...". With cover, Fine condition.
