From the attic of an old farmstead comes this diverse collection of 50 mail order catalogs, promotional materials, and advertising flyers, ca. 1880's - early 1920's. By the late 1800's the self-sufficient frontier settler had evolved into an modern American farmer who was fully vested in the national economy as both producer and consumer. This colorful group reflects the emerging relationship between specialized manufacturers and a growing class of agricultural businessman. Included are richly illustrated catalogs and advertisements hawking such necessities as fertilizers, creamery supplies, seeds, incubators, outdoor engines, implements, silos, manure spreaders, cider mills, feed, and wood saws. There is also a brochure for Kodak cameras and a wonderful 32-page fully illustrated 1906 catalog of revolvers and shotguns from the Harrington & Richardson Arms Company. The average condition of each item is Very Fine.
