Lot of 129 international bonds, all large folio, ca. 1850's - 1940's with most being from the early 20th century. A colorful group of impressive financial documents spanning the globe and exhibiting the highest standards of engraving. Municipalities, manufacturers, mines, utilities, and railroads issued most of these bonds which carry vignettes appropriate to their national origin and/or product. Among the countries represented in the collection are the Belgian Congo, Bulgaria, China, Costa Rica, Egypt, Great Britain, Greece, France, Italy, Mexico, Romania, and the United States. Highlighting the railroad bonds are a rare $500 bond from the Indiana Railroad Company that is also negotiable in British pounds and an 1855 $1,000 bond for the Dayton, Xenia & Belpre Railroad Company. Average condition for the group is VF to Extremely Fine.
