Original large format $100 coupon bond issued by the KONA AND KAU RAILWAY COMPANY, Territory of Hawaii, May 31, 1902. Strikingly attractive railroad bond with great vignette of speeding diamond-stacked locomotive with passenger train. Printed in black with green decorative border incorporating vignette of an American eagle at the top with "United States of America" at left, and "Territory of Hawaii" at right. Bond measures 16" X 9 1/2" and comes with 2 sheets of attached coupons. In exceptionally fine condition with no tears, repairs or cancellation marks of any kind. Any financial material from Hawaii is scarce and this is a rare example of a bond issued for the construction of a Hawaiian railroad.
