Collection of 47 drawings by Henry C. Jones of Paola, Kansas, ca. 1910-1925. These highly professional and charming cartoons were sent by Jones to his cousin, J. Lawrence Evans, M.D. of Guttenberg, New Jersey. Many of them are embellished with original and often humorous verse. In and of themselves the cartoons are splendid, however they were drawn by a most unlikely candidate. Henry Jones was a bank president, not a cartoonist, by profession. The bulk of his art and prose survives on letterheads of the Miami County National Bank. Overall, Very Fine condition.
