HAMMER, Armand (1898-1990). Industrialist, entrepreneur, art collector. A controversial figure subject to conjecture and investigation because of his family ties to the American Communist Party and his business dealings with the Soviet Union. Typed Letter Signed "Armand" with Autograph Note Signed "Armand" on one sheet, quarto, August 15, 1975, Los Angeles, California, to Julius Tangeloff, New York. This correspondence concerns a flyer from Tiffany & Co. defending profits, a copy of which is attached to the letter. A postscript is penned by Hammer as follows: "I enjoyed our brief meeting in Newport to-day and thank you for your kindness Mrs. Hammer is enchanted with her jade necklace and will write you separately." On an Occidental Petroleum letterhead. VF condition.
