On the obverse each arm of the cross bears the name of a famous composer, while the reverse lists participating countries. VF condition...Plus; Yorktown medal with hanger, 1 3/4" x 1 7/8", 1881, Virginia. The centennial of Washington's victory at Yorktown is commemorated here in brass. The obverse carries a highly detailed Virginia Seal while a bust of the young LaFayette is on the reverse. Toned Very Fine condition...Plus; Pin back button, 1 7/8" diameter, ca. 1900. A young man on horseback races across this button alerting anyone within earshot that the "Dam Has Burst". Perhaps this recalls the Johnstown, Pennsylvania Flood of 1889. VF...Plus; Connecticut pin, 3/4" x 3". ca. 1900's. What appears to be a tin coffin stamped CONNECTICUT is tied to a ribbon on the other end of which is a carved acorn likely signifying the Carter Oak. Fine condition...Plus; War of 1898 medal, 1" x 1 1/4". This gilt bronze piece has a Cuban flag on the obverse and the U.S.S. Maine on the reverse. With eagle hanger.
