Two Newspaper pertaining to the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794 in Pennsylvania, includes: The Columbian Centinel, November 29, 1794, with record of Washington's 6th Annual Address to Congress, relative to the Whiskey Rebellion, which reads in part: “...when we call to mind the gracious indulgence of Heaven by which the American people became a nation...with the deepest regret I announce to you...some of the citizens of the United States have been found capable of an insurrection.....In the four western counties of Pennsylvania a prejudice, fostered and embittered by the artifice of men....The militia have therefore proceeded into the center of the disaffected counties....” Extremely important as this was the first time American troops were raised against Americans. VG....plus; Dunlap and Claypoole's American Daily Advertiser for Monday, December 1, 1794, containing the Senate's response to Washington's Whiskey Rebellion Speech. Rare. Both VG.
