Assumed Office from the Vice Presidency following the assassination of William McKinley in 1901. Typed Letter Signed, “Theodore Roosevelt” 1p. octavo, February 23, 1898, Navy Department, Washington, addressed to Ernest Baynes, it reads: “I remember you very well. About that photograph work I know nothing whatever. It is all in the hands of the Secretary. I suggest that your father write to the Secretary direct, although I can’t say whether it is now too late to go into anything new or not...” Matted with photograph of Roosevelt and Admiral Dewey.
