An exceptional typed D.S. as President on White House letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington [April 9, 1946], a Citation for Legion of Merit, Degree of Legionnaire, presented to a Russian officer who distinguished himself for valor and service to the allies during World War II. It reads, in part: "...Colonel Maxim Filipovic Igantov, Assistant Corps Commander, 121st Corps, Red Army, performed outstanding services from 5 April to 5 May 1945...He ably and firmly carried out plans which resulted in the rapid advance of the Russian forces westward from the Oder River to a junction with the American armies...". Boldly signed by Truman, with the actual Legion of Merit certificate with embossed medal, signed by Secretary of War ROBERT B. PATTERSON and the Adjutant General of the Army.
