A New Deal Democrat from Texas, LBJ served in both the House and Senate. Typed Letter Signed, “Lyndon” 1p. quarto, on U.S. Senate Minority Leader letterhead, March 10, 1953, addressed to Texas Governor Allan Shivers, and reads: “...I have a note from Sam Low in which he tells me it will be extremely difficult to transfer Customs Inspector Campbell H. McCullar to his district for many reasons which I will discuss with you when our paths cross. I did my best, but I doubt you would want to pursue the matter further under the circumstances...” VG.
