JOHNSON, Lyndon Baines (1908 - 1973) Thirty-sixth President of the United States and creator of the "Great Society" social welfare programs. America's growing involvement in Vietnam led to his declining a renomination as president. FORTAS, Abe (1910-1982) Supreme Court Justice and close friend of Lyndon Johnson, stepped down from the Court after lying under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Autograph removed from a typed Letter “Lyndon” and signed card “Abe Fortas” framed with original photograph of Johnson, Fortas, and John Chancellor, White House correspondent for NBC. Fine.
