House of Representatives imprint, "A report of General Jesup, in relation to a claim of the Creek Indians, 52p. octavo, January 21, 1843, and reads in part: "…I have the honor to report, that the Creek war in 1836 was brought to a close in a few weeks, by the aid of the friendly chiefs and their warriors; that I was instructed to remove the whole nation to the country provided for them west of Arkansas, and, in effecting that object, to use military force if necessary, not only against the hostile, but the friendly part of the nation…" One of the supporting documents Jesup uses in this report is a letter addressed by him to Creek Chief Hopoethle Yoholo, dated August, 1836, and reading in part: "…When I came into the Creek country, I found a large portion of the Creek people engaged in hostilities against the whites. The hostiles have been made prisoners, deprived of their arms…and sent West in irons…You and your people have done well. You have redeemed your nation from the disgrace and ruin which were coming upon you…" Disbound, else VG.
