Fine Western stereoview "TUBA AND HIS BAND ON MOIN COPPEE" depicting a group of 9 Indians seated next to a stone dwelling. Later edition of a stereoview attributed to pioneer photographer E.O. Beaman who accompanied Powell's Colorado River Expedition. The original version of this image by Beaman was published in 1871 in the series: "Views in the Canyons of the Colorado River and among the Aztec Cities of Arizona, published by C.W. Woodward of Rochester, New York. The original title identified the group as "Aztec" Indians living among the Moqui (Hopi) villages in Northern Arizona: "Tuba and his band on the Moin Coppee. Having visited Salt Lake City,... is building his houses on the modern plan." This edition bears the imprint "American Scenery-- California and Colorado" on the face of the mount. No backmark. Image is very clear, mount shows slight wear and very slight staining. A fine early Arizona Indian image.
