Unbelievable wealth of detail about every phase of the operation PLUS the official reports of every junior officer who took part. These are Lawton's official, personal copies and includes (on page 103) his original bold penned autograph signature (not a copy !). Large 8 x 13 weighing over 5 pounds ! In excess of 644 original typed copies of individual reports made to him; in original loose leaf binding with title page: "REPORT OF AN EXPEDITION TO THE PROVINCES OF BULUCAN, NUEVA ECIJA AND PAMPAMGA…LUZON, P.I. [on] APRIL 22 TO MAY 30, 1899…SAN ISIDRO OR NORTHERN EXPEDITION…WITH APPENDIX CONTAINING COPIES OF ALL RECORDS PERTAINING THERETO…MAJ. GEN'L H. W. LAWTON…COMMANDING…" The first 103 numbered pages (with Lawton's original penned autograph signature at end) is his report from his headquarters "To the Adj. Gen'l, Dept. of the Pacific." Following that are 493 pages with every conceivable report of every military and civilian command involved; an incredible amount of detail from units of all types…PLUS 48 page appendix summarizing singular report. A superb perception of how American forces fought in that far-flung, wearisome, and guerilla campaign… and impossible to beat for original source material. Exc.
