Three shipping manifests, preprinted, light green paper, 10-1/2" 8-1/4" all originating from Morganza Louisiana, and all bound for New Orleans. The documents are dated December 1860, January 1861, February 1861. The cargo includes corn, cotton, sacks of corn seed. The town Morganza was named after Charles Morgan who owned a plantation in Morganza. He also owned a large shipping line often bringing slaves from the North to New Orleans. Morganza takes its name from Morganza Plantation, the antebellum holding of Charles Morgan, an early surveyor, political figure and first American sheriff of Pointe Coupee Parish.
