Humes" 1pp., datelined Hd Qrs Humes Brigade, Dalton Ga. Feby 22nd 1864. In large part, "In this brigade each regiment is armed with guns of different calibers. Scarcely a company has arms of uniform caliber. This produces great confusion and increase the difficulty of keeping men supplied with suitable ammunition. I respectfully suggest and ask an order from army 265. Also to establish uniformity in different regiments by arming each with the same gun or arms as follows: to the 8th Confederate, pistols and sabers, to the 1st branch loading guns and sabers, to the 3rd confederate the Austrian rifle, and to the 10th confederate Enfield rifle."
