Manuscript Circular, 7" x 8", datelined Headquarters C.S. Armies, 16th Feby 1865. In large part, "The General in Chief directs me to say that he desires you to explain in orders No. 2 & 3 from these headquarters ... that the time allowed absentees to return or report themselves as therein directed ... and that the pardon embraces offences committed for or to that date. Without that explanation men who have deserted ... might consider themselves excluded from the benefit of the order. I have the honor to be Your Obt. Servt., Charles Marshall, Lt. Col. and AAG". Light.
