A rare early war-date booklet, entitled: "Laws Relating to the Organization of the Militia of Ohio," 11pp. 4to., ca. April, 1861 concerning the numerous Congressional Acts passed by Ohio's government in response to the attack on Fort Sumter and Lincoln's call for 90,00 volunteer troops needed to put down the Southern rebellion. Included, but not limited to, are Acts, "An Act. To encourage and secure the safe-keeping of the pubic arms in the hands of volunteer companies-passed April 12, 1861-An Act. To enroll the Militia of the State-passed April 12, 1861-An Act. To provide for the rapid organization of the militia of Ohio-passed April 23, 1861-An Act. To provide more effectually for the defense of the state against invasion-passed April 26, 1861." Near fine.
