War-date Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 8vo., written, on embossed American flag patriotic stationery, by Pvt. Alfred A. Thayer, Co. B, 96th Ohio Vols., [n. p., but Covington, Kentucky], Sept. 2, [1862], reading, in part: " - the same day we left we gut to Cincinnati and we crossed the river into Covington, Kentucky. We expect a fit hear every day. The people are going to draft hear today, every able man - the people are scared bad, but I ain't. I just [?] the Marshall House on a road out of Covington - direct your letters to Covington, Kentucky care of-A. A. Thayer-". The original stamped transmittal patriotic cover of a vivandiere giving aid to a wounded Union Zouave is included. Thayer's phonetic spelling and loose grammar had been corrected. Overall VG
