Document Signed 2pp., datelined March 15, 1863, Camp Pitcher near Falmouth, being a furlough for William Merryman of Company 63rd PA Vols, issued and signed by his Captain "George Weaver". On the reverse we have three additional signatures including Approval by (Colonel) "W(illiam) S. Kirkwood" who died from wounds he received at Chancellorsville; Approved (Major General) "D(avid) B Birney" Division Commander at Gettysburg where he was twice wounded. And, Approved "Charles H.T. Collis, Colonel Commending", who was awarded MOH Fredericksburg.
