Three page letter written by T.R. Hazzard to General Sam W. Crawford, Washington County, Pa., Nov. 29, 1863. Hazzard lays sentence upon sentence complimenting the General, in small part "... that since the battle of Gettysburg, your name has been set up in every loyal home of this state at the head of our Household Gods. ... your noble, patriotic , heroic and chivalrous deeds and glorious achievements in repelling the invasion of our state ... the gratitude that flows in the hearts of the people of our Commonwealth. ..." He then gets to the point, "The main objective I have in writing was to thank you for your uniform kindness and distinguished favor towards my son Capt. Chill W. Hazzard by putting him on your staff ... "
