A rare war-date official printed, 1p. 8vo., "Provost Marshal's Office, Fourth Congressional District, Quincey, [Illinois], Nov. 1st 1864," circular calling for the the local citizenry to turn in their fellow neighbors who were attempting to avoid the draft, reading, in part: "All drafted men who have not reported at these Head Quarters will be hunted up and brought in. It is the duty-of good citizens-to aid and assist in seeing to it, that none escape or fail to report-Special Agents are enjoined to bring such parties in. Henry Asbury, Capt. and Provost Marshal-". A rare circular not located in OCLC. Negligible horizontal center fold crease, else Near fine.
