Mary Anna Randolph Custis Lee (1807-1873) was the wife of the Confederate general Robert E. Lee and the last private owner of Arlington Estate. She was the daughter of George Washington Parke Custis who was the grandson of Martha Dandridge Custis Washington, the wife of George Washington. Presentation of Front Cover "Popular Life of Gen. Robert E, Lee" by Emily V. Mason with ink presentation "R.E. Lee Lewis from his affec. Cousin Mary Custis Lee, August 25, 1872." Matted & ready to frame. R.E.Lewis, born in Berryville, Va., was a cousin of Gen. Robert E. Lee and third great grandson of Fielding Lewis who married Betty Washington, the sister of George Washington. He was a graduate of the law school of Columbia university. Was admitted to the bars of Virginia and New York.
