Union soldier 4pp letter signed only "Jim" (the content indicates 1st Massachusetts (Cook's Battery) Light Artillery). The letter is datelined "Old Court House Baltimore, July 8, 1861. In part, "I sent an ambrotype to you last Wednesday .. We are very pleasantly situated. ... On Fourth, Gus Stowe, the fellow who was shot by Skummings, Gordon and myself went to the upper city ... Druid Hill Park where we had a picnic. ... We are having a gay time here but I shall not be sorry when it is time for us to go home. ..."
