War-date Union cavalryman's letter, 4pp. 8vo., on very graphic "Great Battle at Pittsburg Landing" patriotic stationery, written by thirty year old Private Abiezer Veazie, Jr., Co. B, 1st Maine Cavalry, Waterloo, Va., July 25, 1862, to his daughter giving her fatherly advice and then to his wife, reading, in small part: "- I sent $80 to you by express half of which belongs to Samuel Burrows [corporal. Co. B, 1st Maine Cavalry] - his father will call and get it - the agent said the express bill wound be one dollar - make him[Samuel's father] pay one half of the bill, but I guess you'll think of it as you always do of everything else - we are down here 7 miles farther towards Richmond than we was when at Warrenton - Abiezer."
