Strong Union soldier's letter written by Isaac Groft who enlisted on 1/27/1864 as a Private into "I" Co. IN 46th Infantry and died on 9/30/1864 at New Orleans, LA. The 4pp. letter is large, 9-1/2' x 12", with a large image "City-Hall of New Orleans" datelined May 11, 1864, Camp near Algiers La. A frustrated Issac writes his wife in part, "I have not had a letter from you for over two weeks. ... I am getting almost out of heart because I don't get letters. If you don't soon write me some letters, I will think you have foresaken me. Entirely. I will have to look around here for a she nxxxxr pretty soon. ..."
