Manuscript Document Signed, 3p. folio, January 14, 1846, Fayette, Texas, being a slave bill of sale that reads in part: “...for and in consideration of Sixteen hundred dollars to us in hand payed by James C. Ragsdale...We Westley D. Lafferty and Martha Lafferty...do bargin and sell...a certain family or lot of negro slaves (viz) Barthene a woman about 40 years old of a black complexion for the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars; Bill or William a boy about 21 years old of a black complexion for the sum of six hundred dollars, also Henry a boy about 18 years old of a dark complexion for the sum of six hundred dollars...” VG.
