Lot of 5 partially printed documents, each 6 pages, folio, June 7 and June 8, 1865, Beaufort, South Carolina. These invoices are listings of stores "turned over" by Lieutenant Peter Meagher, Acting Ordnance Officer of the 26th U.S. Colored Volunteers at Battery Burnside. Extractors, Borman fuses, siege guns, and even common wrenches are among the many artillery items noted. Fine condition. ...plus; Partially printed document, one page, oblong folio, November, 1870, Charleston, South Carolina. A detailed report of "Persons and Articles employed and hired at Charleston, S.C." signed by Captain G. W. Bradley, Assistant Quartermaster, U.S.. Army. Terms of hire for clerks, laborers, and professional contractors are noted in addition to rental property leases. VF condition....plus; Autograph letter Signed "I.G.C. Lee", 2 pages, quarto, October 29, 1876, Atlanta, Georgia to the Assistant Adjutant General, Columbia, South Carolina. Written on Headquarters Department of the South stationery, this letter lists various South Carolina posts receiving supplies. A late Reconstruction-era communication indicating a Federal military presence in even non-strategic locale. Fine condition.
