Fine condition...Plus; Autograph Letter Signed "Geo. W. Iden", 4 pages, quarto, February 1, 1866, Columbia, South Carolina to Joseph Arthur, location unknown. The letter, penned by a homesick lieutenant, reads in small part: "...I am a republican, but not a radical, and do not endorse the principles advocated by such men as Sumner, Stevens, & Wade. I was a strong war man, but now, that war is over...so not think it magnanimous in our government to trample its victims in the dust...". Stains, else Fine condition...Plus; Autograph Letter Signed "Geo. W. Iden", 4 pages, quarto, March 7, 1866, Columbia, South Carolina to Joseph Arthur, location unknown. It reads in very small part: "...Our regiment was paid six months pay yesterday, and some of them who are disposed to drink, are having what is generally known among drinkers, as, a good time, but deliver me from ever having a good time if it cannot be done without disgracing myself, and all of my friends...". Fine condition...Plus; Manuscript Document, one page, octavo, January 29, 1867, Aberdeen, Mississippi. This copy of a letter to Brigadier General Jim Brownlow in Nashville forwards the request of Confederate veterans in Tennessee for records of their service in government hands. VF condition...Plus; Autograph Letter Signed "A S B Wall", 2 pages, octavo, March 3, 1867, Washington, D.C. to a W.J. Herrick, Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Written on Freedman's Bureau stationery, this letter discusses ex-slaves. VF condition...Plus; Autograph Letter Signed: "Fisk B. Brewer", 3 pages, octavo, April 13, 1867, Raleigh, North Carolina to Rev. Bryan, West Haven, Connecticut. This letter thanks the reverend for clothing and books to be distributed to freedmen. With stamped cover. VF condition...Plus; Imprint, GENERAL ORDERS NO. 47, one page, Grenada, Mississippi, November 14, 1868. The daily schedule for the Federal garrison at Grenada is outlined here. Light stains, folds. Fine condition.
