WIGFALL, Louis T. (1816 - 1874) Confederate brigadier general active in the taking of Fort Sumter, later resigning to accept a position as Confederate Congressman. Autograph Letter Signed, “Louis T. Wigfall”, 1p. quarto, March 22, 1861, Washington, and reads in part: “My dear Col....I sent you...my library which you may find useful....I have been ready to start anytime for the last two weeks. Hope to get off in a day or two. Will as soon as your recruitign officer comes & I can turn over the business to him. My opinion has under you no change. We must prepare for war...” Accompanied by Carte de visite of Wigfall by Anthony. Both VG.
