Partly-printed Document Signed, 1p. quarto, February 20, 1861, Milledgeville, Georgia, and reads: “I William R. Boggs, do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) that I will bear true allegiance to the State of Georgia, and that I will serve her honestly and faithfully against all her enemies or opposers whatsoever, and observe and obey the orders of the Governor of the State of Georgia, and the orders of the officers appointed over me according to the rules and articles for the government of the armies of Georgia, so long as I remain under the control of Georgia; ad should i be transferred by said State to the Confederate States, which have seceded or may secede from teh government of the United States, and may adopt a confederate Government, I will thenceforth bear like allegiance, and render like services to said Confederacy, by whatever name it may be known...” VG.
