Partially printed document, SUBSCRIBER'S NAMES TO THE BATTLES OF THE UNITED STATES BY SEA AND LAND, 16 pages, quarto, ca. 1858, Washington, D.C. New York publishers Johnson & Fry took advance subscriptions for their American military history. This list of over 300 persons was compiled in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. Included are Major Generals O.O. Howard and John S. Parke; Brevet Brigadier Generals Dewitt, Fullerton, and Ingraham; Naval officers H.S. Bower, F.C. Brecht, George Magee, and John E. McKay; Jefferson Davis; Rachel Booth; C. Payne of Ford's Theater. Given the provenance of this item, many, many more Civil War personalities are likely represented here. Good condition.
