Sanderson & a nigger pilot went ahead with pistols in hand...the enemy was not there...they probably should have given us a warm reception, we found part of a keg of powder...at another house, here Co. boys went in & asked the woman if she had any eggs, she brought out a large basket full expecting that they were going to buy them but instead of that they filled their hats & hankerchiefs & left...the man...told the Capt but he had no command over them or didn’t care...” Much more.
