Partly-printed Document Signed, "Capt. Geo. Mallory" who was killed at Gainesville, Virginia, 2p. oblong folio, Camp Wood, Arlington, Virginia, August 2, 1861, being his return for "Company B of the Fourteenth Regiment of N.Y. S. M....for the month of July 1861", recording the results on the company at Bull's Run. Includes the names of six men who were wounded at "Bull's Run July 21st 1861", as well as the names of eight men missing and the names of twenty-nine (29) men who are listed as deserters, with excellent remarks by Mallory who writes "It is reported that many of these men are in Brooklyn, where they proceed immediately in continuation of their retreat from Bulls Run, they were all seen after the Battle. Of those who have deserted on or after the 30th of July it is thought but a few were enabled to reach Brooklyn, but are at present in Washington City or Georgetown....No. 12 Baldwin Cann particularly distinguished himself on the field of Battle as one of the Color Guard. In the hottest of the fight when our gallant Color Bearer was shot down, he promptly and bravely took the Colors and bore them out of danger, it is to be regretted that so brave a man should have placed himself in the degrading position of a Deserter..." Fine. Excellent 14th Brooklyn Zouaves Bull Run content.
