Autograph Letter Signed,”F.M. Green” 8p. octavo, January 26, 1864, Richmond, Kentucky, and reads in part: “Last night the picture of ‘Old Abe’ was received; and upon the back of the photograph a reminder that your letter remained unaswered...In relation to your question what the people of this state think of Seymour for the Presidency. I answer that at present McClellan is their preference; but the politics of this state, during the continuance of the war, has been so changeable and the people have been subjected to so many varied influences that tomorrow their choice may be another. The politics of Ky today maybe said to be variegated. The principal and the solid (if such it can be called) color is conservatism; but there can be found a spot of abolitionism,. There a large spot of secessionism in one place tender Union - men abound in another tender Secessionists. In this place are discovered immediate Emancipationist in that gradual Emanicipationists then pro-slavery men of the deepest dye - then conditional pro-slavery men &c &c ...Burman is a radical teh fourth Buckner a mixed man. The radical candidate (Burman) is a citizen of Richmond and has been an Emancipationist from his youth up...” Much more. VG.
