Fine large original Civil War oval photographic image 5 x 7½ of seated, bearded (but no moustache) Union warrior in typical artillery, waist length jacket, wearing the handsome tall, wide brim felt hat with huge insignia of cross cannon, numeral "2" and letter "K" and large feathered cockade. Very large, Starr double action .44 caliber percussion revolver jammed through his belt prominently in view, while another smaller percussion revolver (not identifiable) on the opposite side of his belt. Hand rests on the hilt of a typical pre-Civil War artillery officer's sword. Sepia toning; aged and some very light fading but all quite clear and sharp. Original, oval paperboard mount (large chips out of edge).
