Extremely fine, sharp ambrotype photo image of a bearded Union soldier prominently holding across his chest, a BRASS FRAME WHITNEY FIVE SHOT .32 CALIBER PERCUSSION REVOLVER; the model with the square back triggerguard and the novel feature of an extra trigger located ahead of the usual triggerguard and used as a release and lock for the manually turned cylinder. This model only made between 1852 and 1854. 2 ½ x 3 in original, lovely gilt frame. An especially sharp, clear image in superb exc+ condition. Original photographer's paperboard label affixed to the rear of "M. S. LAMPREY'S DAGUERREIAN SALOON… MANCHESTER, N.H." Exc.
